|Renkoo Tip of the Week
This week you have a choice in how you adopt a pet from Haikoo Zoo. For a small fee, you can now adopt our extra-special and extra-exclusive Premium Pets like the new Unicorn-pony or go with a classic (free) adoption of a cute Dragon. Decisions, decisions.
Wednesday is the new Thursday
Fun things to make plans to do this week…
Even if you don’t know that FABAIC is the acronym for the Face and Body Art International Convention doesn’t mean you can’t go and enjoy this year’s Tropical Adventure theme. There are classes and competitions. Don’t be glum that it’s too expensive to fly to Hawaii this year, just get a sunset and palm tree painted on your face! Order a pina colada inside the Doubletree Hotel and we swear it’s the next best thing (even though you’re 6,000 miles away in Orlando).
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 26 years since Indy first hit the big screen but the 19-year wait for the fourth installment is over today. Set for a simultaneous international release, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has arrived to kick off your Memorial Day weekend of fun.
Fifty years is an anniversary of any kind to be celebrated and the City of Kodiak in Alaska has certainly earned its self-proclaimed title of King Crab Capital of the World. Bring your appetite because at the fiftieth Crab Festival there will be a seafood cook off featuring…salmon! Just kidding. Stop by the Golden Celebration Photo Exhibit which commemorates fifty years of glorious crab. Tonight is the opening reception of the 8th Annual Crab Festival Art Show at the Best Western Kodiak Inn.
This weekend, San Francisco’s Mission District brings you Carnaval, a celebration of Latin American and Caribbean cultures designed to make your “spring sizzle.” After 30 years, they have perfected the art of the party and there will be art, music, costumes, food, dance, floats and more. This year features the introduction of the “ZONA VERDE” — a space dedicated to healing ceremonies, renewable energy, body work, organic food items and earth friendly products covering one square city block. The Carnaval Grand Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at the corner of 24th and Bryant.
Portland, OR and bicycles are like conjoined twins. Today it’s the Urban Assault Ride. Bring your bike and obviously bring your helmet because you’re going to need your brain for this bike scavenger hunt. Teams of two will choose their own course to the checkpoints around the city and everyone ends up at a “huge” after party. Follow all that? You pedal around, do an obstacle course, pedal around some more, do another obstacle course and then at the end, you get New Belgium beer for your efforts. Sweet.
