Panda Bear, Panda Bear, what do you see? I see a virtual owner looking at me. Eric Carle fan or not, why not try panda ownership? Our new Hall of Supreme Harmony in Beijing is an ideal background for your adorably rotund panda. Feed your panda Nian Gao, Roti or if your pet is a Francophile somehow, maybe Poutine is a better choice. Don’t forget to decorate the habitat with a Chinese New Year’s Flyer, Firecrackers and of course a Bamboo Branch. All you need to do is come up with a name and get some friends to play Belly Bump!
Wednesday is the new Thursday
Fun things to make plans to do this week…
Science and couture join forces in Boston for Seamless. The Museum of Science transforms itself into a catwalk to show the technological move beyond wireless to wearable. A featured item is the moon dress with flowers made of high-tech threads that cause the pattern in the flower to change along with the waning of the moon.
Tonight Google is hosting a dinner and you’re invited if you’re a) a girl and b) a geek. If you are the guest of someone who is a) a girl and b) a geek, well you are welcome to come along too. There will be heavy appetizers, drinks, networking and schwag at the kickoff for the Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners at Charlie’s Cafe.
Have you got the winter blues? Are you suffering from SAD? The Surf City USA Marathon this weekend is the perfect antidote. Not only will you get off the couch Mr. Potato, but you’ll be running along the famous Huntington Beach coastline and passing the pier. The sounds of the Beach Boys will start you off, and the finish line includes a Beer Garden Beach Party and a BBQ “in the California sun.” Hey, there’s nothing like hydrating with beer after an endurance event and even if it’s only partly sunny, you’re bound to have a good time.
Does yet another Hallmark holiday make you want to gag? Then you’ll appreciate an Indie Valentine at CooperElla in Missouri. Crafters and artists join forces to rage against the corporate marketing machine. If you’re not near Maplewood, you can still go indie with something from the featured vendors. Perhaps you’d like to surprise your sweetie this year with a Solidago photo or a quirky pair of peacock pants.
It’s time for that annual chips and beer extravaganza otherwise known as the Super Bowl. In fact, some people believe the Super Bowl has moved beyond a championship football game and should be honored as a national holiday called Super Bowl Monday. Did you know that the Super Bowl is the second largest food consumption day in our fine land? Neither did we, but it’s not too surprising. Some folks actually care about the game, but most really only care about the selection of dips. Sack!
