If you’re like us, you look forward to that sleepy feeling after eating waaaaaay too much. Get ready for Post Turkey Consumption with a goblet of Tryptophantastic. Nighty night! ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz.
Wednesday is the new Thursday
Fun things to make plans to do this week…
Before you get stuffed tomorrow, get Wicked today at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. This new musical is all about Oz, has nothing to do with Dorothy, everything to do with witches (Glinda and the Wicked one, obviously) and is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire. Trust us, this is way more fun than standing in line to pick up your turkey.
Okay here’s an unusual twist to a typical diet — burn off your calories before you consume them. Get your heart rate up this morning with the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot at Waterloo Park in Austin. Not feeling that energetic after waking up at dawn to throw the bird in the oven? Then just do the “Kids K.” Even if you only make it half a K, you’ve done a good deed before noon by supporting the Caritas for Austin, which assists more than 20,000 working poor, unemployed and homeless folks.
Everyone knows about lighting the tree at Rockefeller Center, so we’re here to tell you about lighting the whale at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Yes, Laverne & Shirley would be proud of this atypical way to kick off the holiday season. Be there by 11:30 AM or you’ll miss the blg flip of the gigantic switch.
Considering all the movies about horrible holiday weekends with family, we’re guessing that even normal families could use a little break from each other on day three of the long weekend. Gather your friends and hit the World’s Largest Disco at the Buffalo Convention Center in New York. This record-breaking event goes way back to the actual disco age of the 70s. Feel tha funk and get down.
Are your aunties and grandmas all shopped out by now? Take a break from mad consumerism and enjoy the last day of the holiday weekend with them at the Miramont Castle Victorian Christmas event in Colorado. Held the last weekend of every November, the Victorian Christmas is full of holiday decorations, homemade goodies, high tea and… ghosts?
