Art for Grownups and Kids, Sweet Auburn Springfest, Beautiful Birds and Moms

Renkoo Tip of the Week

You asked for voting, and we listened. Now hosts can add date and time voting options to their event invitations. Power to the people!

Wednesday is the new Thursday

Fun things to make plans to do this week… besides visiting Zanzibar and Chosun Galbi, of course…

Wednesday
Now that the first weekend rush is over, take a midweek opportunity to check out the newly renovated Seattle Art Museum. The expansion provides 118,000 square feet of new space linking activity on the city streets to the life and art inside the walls of SAM.

Thursday
The Denver Art Museum has many ways to expose the little ones to art. You can play in the Just for Fun Family Center and dress up like owls or Egyptian crocodiles, all the while testing your brain with a Japanese memory game or venturing over to the Just for Fun Architecture Center to build little buildings. See now? You don’t have to be a kid to act like one.

Friday
The Sweet Auburn Springfest is the largest festival of its kind in the South and boy does it boast a litany of categories: it is multi-cultural, musical, artistic, cinematic, healthy, sporty and yes, they even have food. Held in Atlanta’s Martin Luther King/Sweet Auburn Historical District, the festival traditionally attracts between 350,000 and 500,000 people (not all at once, calm down). This year’s theme is “Linking the Global Family” so gather your own family on Renkoo (maybe your mom will finally figure out how to read her text messages) and be festive.

Saturday
Seriously? You didn’t know today was International Migratory Bird Day? It’s a good thing you subscribe to our newsletter. Bird Day happens on the second Saturday of every May and encourages all things bird: conservation, appreciation and education through hikes, public events and of course, bird watching. Sam Beaver would be proud.

Sunday
This year, really impress the moms in your life by researching these spa deals and thoughtfully choosing which spa she’d like best. Included are Avalon Spa at the Avalon Hotel in Portland, Oregon; the Ritz Carlton Spa in New Orleans; the Well Spa at Miramonte Resort and Spa in Indian Hills, CA; the Spa at Red Rock at the edge of Las Vegas; and Avello Spa in Whistler, B.C. If you book that one, you get double brownie points for providing an international vacation and a spa day.

Renkoo helps you make plans with friends.

  1. Sundays should be the spent for special art museums or galleries since this is the family day. Are there any museum or gallery that shows other than paintings or artifacts?

Generally, museums are known for their collection of paintings and other similar artwork. I was wondering if there is any museum that showcases modern stuff.
