Ski Bunnies and College Hoops, Irish Wizards and the Edmonia Lewis Quiz
March 14, 2007
Wednesday is the new Thursday
Fun things to make plans to do this week…
Wednesday — Ski for Spring Break, Winter Park, CO
Be different — skip the beach and bikini scene this year and spend spring break on the slopes instead. Winter Park, Colorado has a regional women’s giant slalom event going on this week and plenty to do apres-snow. Just 1.5 hours from Denver, it is easy to get to and if you use FlyLite to help you pack and SeatGuru to find the best seats, your spring break will practically plan itself. Book your gear online 48 hours ahead and save 20 percent. Now go put away that beach towel.
Thursday — March Madness Opening Rounds
So what if the NCAA Tournament costs U.S. employers upwards of one billion dollars in lost productivity each spring? With 32 games alone today and tomorrow, it’s useless to try and resist it.
Friday — Wizard World, Los Angeles, CA
It’s a pop-culture extravaganza this weekend in L.A. as Wizard World comes to town. Whether you’re into comics, anime, gaming or collectibles, don’t miss this three-day event with too many special guests for us to name them all — except maybe we’ll point out that Greg Grunberg will be there for our Alias fans.
Saturday — St. Patrick’s Day, Chicago, IL
Chicago’s celebration is probably the most famous way to get your green on… they dye the Chicago River green at 10:45 a.m., the parade starts at noon, and who cares what time the beer starts getting ingested? You’re not in Chicago? Well that’s no excuse, you can watch it nationwide on WGN from the comfort of your very own green-watered bathtub… or even just the couch.
Sunday — Women’s History Month Art Tour, Washington, DC
Redeem yourself of all that Irish beer and get thee some culture today at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Sure you know about Georgia O’Keefe, but do you know who Edmonia Lewis is? Well then, you better run over to this art tour. It starts at 2 p.m. so your hangover is no excuse. Reports are due on Monday.
