Wednesday is the new Thursday
Fun things to make plans to do this week…
Okay, we admit it, only four of this season’s 11 plays are Shakespearian, but that’s no reason to stay home from the nation’s largest regional theater festival in Oregon. See Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, and look at spring’s cherry blossoms in a whole new way.
Yarn over to California’s Santa Clara Convention Center for Stitches West. Don’t miss The Market which has more yarn shopping than you can shake a needle at, plus demonstrations, “The Knit Doctor”, prizes, and the best “learn to knit” school for beginners!
Everyone else: take a break from taxes and head to Miami with the crew from Reno 911! The brave men and women of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department improvise their way to a national law enforcement convention. Buy tickets online for this nationwide release at Fandango.
Let REI show you the way with their GPS class – today it’s at the College Park, MD branch, but the outdoor-equipment company holds them regularly at other branches. Not only is GPS helpful if you get lost in
the woods… but it’s increasingly the basis of new geek-chic games like geocaching, benchmarking, and geotagging.
The be-all and end-all of awards is here, so don’t pretend you’re not going to tune in with the other gazillions of people to see who wore what and who won what. Instead of making your friends and family vote for the obvious categories, be different and hold an Oscar trivia contest instead.
